Transformation: The Making Of A Stylish Wedding

When it was time to invite everyone into the reception tent for dinner, two sets of double doors were simultaneously opened and guests were welcomed into the Shangri-La of wedding tents! Guests’ jaws dropped and the “oohs” and “aahs” were heard continually as the visual imagery that their eyes feasted upon was nothing less than spectacular!

This wedding was visualized and designed to be a sumptuous culinary and décor experience that represented the couple’s love of food, the outdoors and unique artistry. The bride is the epitome of classic style and grew up with traditional influences while the groom exudes more of a modern style and grew up in a free-spirited household with lots of creative flair. The pairing of their style and influences created the perfect melding as they envisioned a contemporary design with a color palette of white, wisteria purple and a splash of pistachio green.

The experience was planned for 250 guests who had traveled near and far to celebrate with Katie and Kyle. Upon arrival, guests were welcomed into an open-air patio where a gypsy jazz band gently played in the corner and servers greeted them with the signature cocktail, a Lavender Collins Cocktail. A refreshing summer twist on the Tom Collins made with fresh lavender syrup, garnished with a sprig of fresh locally sourced lavender and served in a tall zombie glass with a purple/white striped paper straw for sipping. As guests mingled, sipped on cocktails and enjoyed the cooling summer breezes off of Lake Michigan, servers offered them a delicious array of hot and cold hors d’oeuvres.

The 80’x140′ tent ceiling had been custom lined with a beautiful purple mosaic silk and from that, four large crystal chandeliers had been hung throughout the tent which created our romantic mood lighting. In the center of the tent was the piece de resistance – a 16 ft. custom, hand-made manzanita tree with branches reaching out 8 ft. in every direction. Painted a beautiful bright white and all lengths of purple ribbon hung from the various branches which later, guests would share their wishes for the new couple by hanging them from the ribbons. This ribbon filled tree that you could stand under was our Wishing Tree for Katie and Kyle.

Once guests enjoyed their wedding feast dining experience – Katie and Kyle invited everyone to join them in the Pilot House of Discovery World to dance the evening away. Guests were given light-up glo bracelets in white, green and purple as they made their way up the elevators to the 4th floor. As guests emerged into this rotunda space with 360 degrees of glass windows overlooking Lake Michigan and Milwaukee’s night skyline, they found a completely transformed and custom designed lounge and dance space called Club K2.
